We have been back running a full timetable following the Christmas Break offering sessions until 8pm Monday – Thursday and until 6pm on Friday with the allotment on Saturday morning. We have had a variety of sessions linked into the timetable – podcasting, drumming with Yes! Creative Beats and Upcycling with Jan Frith.
Attendance:
December – 14 Sessions offered and 37 individual young people attending sessions. 21 of those young people attended at least 2 sessions with one young person attending 8 sessions throughout December. January – 42 Sessions offered and 78 individual young people attending sessions, 47 of those young people attended at least 2 sessions with one young person attending 16 sessions throughout January. February – 40 Sessions offered and 87 individual young people attending sessions, 53 of those young people attended at least 2 sessions with one young person attending 15 sessions throughout February. (interesting to note that of those 87 young people 22 of those are home educated)
We have continued to see a reduction in safeguarding incidents since the last meeting but as predicted we did have an increase in September of safeguarding incidents. The incidents have mainly been friendship, neglect and bullying issues.
We have continued with our Saturday morning allotment sessions with support from a sessional worker whilst staff were off sick. We are looking at setting up a home education allotment session during the week.
We have had new signs up and already complete a Bronze Day Walk and have expeditions planned throughout the year.
Bronze – 21 young people (20 needing expeditions) Silver – 3 young people
Gold – 8 young people
At the moment we do not have enough young people to run a silver expedition as need a minimum of 4 young people for an expedition so we will support these to complete their sections and when we have enough young people enrolled we will an expedition.
Gold – we have 4 young people actively completing their sections and 3 of these booked to complete their Gold residential so we will need to look at a Gold Expedition for them in the summer.
We were successful in the 24/25 funding application and have been awarded £4200. Short Breaks sessions continue to run with a high take up.
The social action group planned and hosted a cuppa and cake afternoon and raised £213 for Haylands Farm. Their next intergenerational project will be working alongside Nettlestone and Seaview Men in Sheds (Nashers) to help put together sections of boardwalk for the accessibility programme and then supporting with the installation in May with a final project (TBC) before a celebration event in London on 24th July.
Jan Frith completed a number of workshops for young people which were very successful and young people’s upcycled clothes will be on display in Ryde Library in due course. We are looking at other sessions like this to run again as was a popular session. Jo is completing an evaluation with the young people to gain their feedback to influence future sessions.
Emma and Yetta ran 4 sessions here at Network Ryde through their SNG funding – all well received and no noise complaints this time.
As part of our YIF bid we are working with the National Youth Agency to gain their quality standards mark. We have had our midway review and our development plan is almost complete ready to action before the end of June.
